YouTube Says No To Internet Exploited 6

Recently YouTube famous for being the biggest video site in the world has announced they will be phasing out Internet Exploited 6 quite soon, this has actually the first time I’ve seen a huge site such as YouTube to get rid of Internet Exploited 6 being used on the site all I can say is good riddance!

I hated it since it was built on the Mosaic project and was dressed up and claimed as Microsoft’s own and really nobody actually liked Internet Exploited anyway hence the name many call it due to it being easily exploited some may even call it Internet Exploder as well.

Nothing really major (yet) but that anybody who is using Internet Exploited 6 needs to upgrade to Internet Exploited 8 or move to an open source browser such as my faithful Firefox 3.5, and yes I do love Firefox for its security and very customizable features but I also do like the many other alternatives out there too like Safari 4 and Opera 10 sadly Google Chrome is not in my books yet due to it lacking needed features but that will certianly change soon!

Speaking of YouTube here is my favorite video on here!

This is entirely up to you! You choose the browser you want to use just try to not use Internet Exploited if you want the best of your web experience to be fast and easy.

I have included links for any who have IE6 or are interested on what other browsers can do rather than IE.

Windows 7 Testing Finished And Ready For The Open World!

Microsoft has announced their new operating system Windows 7 to the public and thanked all the beta and RC testers for helping give their thoughts and ideas for Windows 7.

Upgrade pricing was quite similar to Vista but not as bad though with editions like Ultimate $219.99, Professional at $199.99 and Home Premium at $119.99.

Many people who got their hands on the leaked versions have noticed improved performance than the RC build 7100 so maybe Windows 7 is possibly going to be even better than people have thought before. I do personally think this is going to be the best version of windows since Windows 95 but we will have to see what the public says about it later on.

Windows 7 Ultimate

Windows 7 Ultimate

For those who have no idea if there PC can run Windows 7 you can visit http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/upgrade-advisor.aspx to check if your PC will have any issues or if it will run perfectly like mine can.

Windows 7 will generally be available on October 22nd, 2009 so till then pre order while there is stock!

Finished Testing Windows 7 RC

After a few weeks of testing all I really have to say is… WOW!

Windows 7 RC seems to be more effecient and brighter than beta in a way everything installed correctly after my Easy Transfer restore even my overclocking did not seem to have an issue with it, no bluescreens, Nothing bad at all.

The only issue I recently have had with it is that some drivers were in 32 bit and I had to download the 64 bit versions but all is fine now! Speed seems to be a lot better in this build been stressing it out with PRIME ect nothing seems to do anything that bad which is good.

In conclusion everything is working better than Beta or previous builds so if you stil have them pop by Microsofts site and download Windows 7 RC it’s worth it!

List of changes can be found here and here

Windows 7 RC Build 7100 Offically Released!

Sorry about the delay folks, been having Bluescreens and Hardware Malfunction attacks since i’ve been playing with overclocking. But as I have said quite a while ago Im happy to say Microsoft has officially released Windows 7 RC Build 7100 sadly I cannot give much info about the release since I’m sadly capped and cannot download the 64-Bit version till the 10th this month so once im finished downloading and installing I shall tell you all my opinion of it. My current guess now is that it will be excellent even for the novice users too!

You will not be able to upgrade from the beta or previous builds or even XP best to clean install! Vista for some reason is supported for upgrading maybe Microsoft is trying to get Vista users to get Windows 7 as a apology? You can find these on the FAQ’s.

Windows 7 RC will expire next year June 1st but there are catches!

The Windows 7 RC will stop working on June 1, 2010. After that date, your PC will stop working and it may be difficult to recover your files. If you’re running the RC version of Windows 7, please be prepared to reinstall a prior version of Windows or the final version of Windows 7 before June 1, 2010.

Seems normal right just like beta but read this!

To avoid interruption, you’ll need to rebuild your test machine using a valid version of Windows before the software expires. Windows will notify you that the expiration process is beginning and two weeks later your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. The Beta expires on August 1, 2009, and bi-hourly shutdowns will begin July 1, 2009. The RC will expire June 1, 2010, and the bi-hourly shutdowns will begin on March 1, 2010. In both cases, you’ll need to rebuild your test PC to replace the OS and reinstall all your programs and data.

You explain that you can use it and it will stop working on June 1, 2010 in every question saying the same thing but one of the very similar questions you explain there will be shutdowns every 2 hours after March? WHAT THE HELL MICROSOFT?!?!

Well… anyway you will be able to download the RC from Microsoft’s site just sign in with your Live ID fill a few questions get your products key and start downloading make sure you have the latest Java to ensure your download will work correctly since the download does use the Java Download Manager just like the Beta did.

Note it may be best to avoid Build 7106 from torrent sites its still a Chinese version and has major issues with stability as many people have said my previous post explains this in more detail.

I’ll try and keep you posted with any news but for now its backing up files and preparing to format and install this RC! :)

Good Luck with the RC guys!

Windows XP Mode For Windows 7

Many of you who have upgraded past Windows XP to Vista may have noticed that some of your Programs have been incompatible with Vista/Windows 7. Microsoft has now just unveiled a new program to be released with Windows 7 RC, It is Virtual PC – Windows XP Mode this is a great idea from Microsoft is to help small businesses and other users to make easy transition to Windows 7. This is great because the user can run both Windows together so it will act like you are just using one computer not two. Due to information from Microsoft it may possibly be  made available, for free, to users of Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions via a download from the Microsoft web site.  Microsoft claims that it is almost complete Windows XP compatibility, or almost 100 percent compatibility with all currently running Windows applications. But what are the requirements and will it be able to use things such as D3D and DirectDraw properly?

Will Windows 7 be the best Windows Operating System yet? We shall find out soon!

World’s first Mac OS X botnet

Fresh research has shed new light on the world’s first Mac OS X botnet, which causes infected machines to mount denial of service attacks.
Symantec researchers Mario Ballano Barcena and Alfredo Pesoli said the infections are the same ones described in this blog post from January.

In it, the blogger – a self-described designer and developer from Australia – said he awoke one morning to discover 100 per cent of his Mac laptop’s resources were being consumed by a bunch of unfamiliar resources. After digging further, he found a foreign PHP script with root privileges was flooding an undisclosed website with data packets.

The botnet employs a peer-to-peer engine, encryption and a structure that allows it to dynamically adapt.

“The code indicates that, wherever possible, the author tried to use the most flexible and extendible approach when creating it – and therefore we would not be surprised to see a new, modified variant in the near future,” the researchers write, according to ZDNet’s Zero Day blog.

The botnet comes courtesy of two trojans dubbed OSX.Trojan.iServices.A and OSX.Trojan.iServices.B by Mac anti-virus provider Intego, which first documented them in January.

The malware is surreptitiously included in copies of Apple’s iWork 09 productivity suite and Adobe’s Photoshop CS4 that are distributed on warez sites. Intego said three months ago more than 20,000 people had downloaded the rogue installers.

It is now proved since Over the past 18 months, a variety of trojans and exploits have increasingly targeted the Mac and possibly the next few years we may see Macs being infected as much as Windows?

Windows 7 RC 7106 Bogus Alert!

If your downloading Windows 7 leaked RC’s from torrent sites you may of noticed that there is a new build with the number of 7106 but there’s a catch!

The bogus part of it that it has been translated from Chinese to English but some parts e.g some desktop icons are still in Chinese, worse to come it even has no Official Microsoft Digital Certificate, the build is also missing a expiration date and does not show if it is activated or not.

To be short try and advoid this build. This has been proved that it has been hacked so there could be other things inside that some people would not want. Follow my advice either stay with build 7000 or 7077, and for you people eager to get the RC would be best to wait for the offical RC build to come out this May.

OFLC Site Owned By Hackers

If you’re wanting to hang out at the OFLC’s website presently, you’re not going to have much luck. Why? Because it’s been hacked by persons unknown, apparently chippy about our world-leading approach to classifying (or refusing classification) to content.

Included in the rant:

This site contains information about the boards that have the right to CONTROL YOUR FREEDOMZ. The Classification Board has the right to not just classify content (the name is an ELABORATE TRICK), but also the right to DECIDE WHAT IS AND ISNT APPROPRIATE and BAN CONTENT FROM THE PUBLIC.

Three points:

One. Some people still don’t get where the blame lies for our classification mess

Even after years of lobbying, bitching and moaning, people are still hammering the OFLC. The OFLC is merely a government body charged with executing the rules. It’s like headbutting a referee for calling a forward pass.

Two. This will provide morons with ammunition

As far as we can tell the defacement didn’t explicitly talk about games censorship (although you can infer it) but it’s going to do gamers the least benefit.

It’s been a torturous path trying to get the industry recognised as a mature form of entertainment for punters of all ages… this kind of act – and the way its expressed – will affirm the blinkered view held in some quarters that gaming is an adolescent thing.

Three. Our government’s response time

The site was hacked on the 26th. It’s still down now. How long does it take to identify the loophole, get the pros in to do their forensic, and restore the site? The OFLC isn’t considered a high risk target like our Defence Force or Federal Police…but even so surely prompt restoration of the site would send a message to script kiddies and more serious types alike that defacements aren’t worth the effort for a few hours of inconvenience? Letting the site stay down for so long sends a different message, no?

Personally, I hope for the defacer’s sake they don’t get caught. Not because of any agreement with their position, but rather because nobody deserves the humiliation of being named and shamed as someone who willingly uses a word like “freedomz”.

Windows Live Hotmail POP3 Support Now Worldwide!

Microsoft has officially confirmed having finished introducing POP3 support to all Windows Live Hotmail users. Users will be able to bridge their online accounts with email clients and receive Windows Live Hotmail content straight on their desktops, or various devices, including mobile Phones such as the iPhone, with POP3-enabled applications.

Users that will want Windows Live Hotmail emails to be received by there email client will need to set up a new account but putting in the following information:

POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995); POP SSL required? Yes; User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com; Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live; SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25 or 587); Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password); TLS/SSL required? Yes.

Microsoft had started introducing POP3 support since early Febuary 2008 and now has finished supporting it around the world as of March 12 this year. However, there are critics who say that POP3 support is simply not enough, and that Microsoft could in fact do better by offering IMAP support.
